Riding on horses, Chinese troops violate LAC again

NEW DELHI: Riding on horses and ponies, around 50 Chinese soldiers intruded into the Indian territory of Chumar in Ladakh on July 16 staking their claim over the area.

The Chinese troops started their incursion in the Chumar area on the evening of July 16 and they remained in the Indian area till the morning of July 17, sources said.

Army sources confirmed the incursion saying that Indian troops had intercepted the PLA patrol in the Chumar area and after the usual banner drill between the two sides, the PLA patrol went back into their territory.

Sources said the intruding Chinese soldiers asked the Indian soldiers to vacate the area claiming that they were standing in Chinese territory.

The incursion by Chinese land forces comes soon after its two helicopters violated Indian air space on July 11 in the Chumar sector.

In the same area, PLA troops had intruded and taken away an Indian surveillance camera on June 17.

The latest incursion took place on the day when India gave approval to the creation of a 50,000-strong mountain strike corps along the border with China.

The frequency of such incidents increased around the time defence minister AK Antony went to China earlier this month and the two countries discussed measures to enhance peace and tranquillity along the line of actual control between them.

Chumar, located 300km from Leh, has always been an area of discomfort for the Chinese troops as this is the only area along the China-India border where they do not have any direct access to the LAC.

India and China have been working towards signing a border pact to maintain peace and tranquillity along the LAC where a number of incursion incidents have been observed in recent months.

Arizona's Rich Rodriguez supports players' involvement in NCAA lawsuit

Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez is supportive of his two players who?ve joined Ed O?Bannon in his lawsuit claiming the NCAA has withheld billions of dollars from athletes by profiting off their likenesses without sharing any of the compensation.

On Thursday, six current players, including Arizona starting linebacker Jake Fischer and kicker Jake Smith, announced they?d been added as plaintiffs.

?Jake and Jake came to my house the other day and talked to me about the case and their involvement,? Rodriguez said on ESPN?s ?Outside the Lines? show, according to the Detroit News. ?They?re two conscientious guys, and they?re both really appreciative of playing college ball. It?s not like they?re disenchanted with the system. They love being student-athletes. But with the likeness issue, they wanted to see if they could have a voice for college athletes, and I support that.?

The other active players involved are: Vanderbilt linebacker Chase Garnham; Clemson cornerback Darius Robinson; and tight end Moses Alipate and wide receiver Victor Keise of Minnesota.

"These athletes are incredibly brave. They are well-aware of the risks of standing up to the NCAA, and yet they felt that this was the right thing to do," Michael Hausfeld, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs, said in a statement.

Fischer led Arizona with 119 tackles last year and is one of the top linebackers in the Pac-12. Smith, his teammate, said on OTL that it is a matter of fairness.

?For me, it?s about the money and the fact that the revenue that?s generated is so vast, and the players are essentially the people that drive the engine that is the NCAA,? Smith said.

O'Bannon, a former UCLA basketball star, is the lead plaintiff among 16 former college athletes in the long-running legal battle that could fundamentally alter how the NCAA operates. Basketball Hall of Famers Bill Russell and Oscar Robertson previously joined the lawsuit that also names video-game maker EA and the Collegiate Licensing Company.

A federal judge in Oakland, Calif., on July 5 allowed the attorneys to update their lawsuit to fix legal technicalities, including adding at least one active player to the lawsuit.

Garnham and Fischer are the most prominent players among the six new plaintiffs, all of whom are seniors. Garnham led Vanderbilt with seven sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss.

Robinson has started six games in each of the last two seasons for the Tigers, though his season was cut short last year by an ankle injury in October.

Smith is a walk-on who missed last season with a knee injury and is competing for a starting job this season.

Alipate has not played at Minnesota in four seasons, including a redshirt year. Keise played 14 games over three seasons for the Gophers.

?I know there?s concerns (in the NCAA) about where this lawsuit will lead,? Rodriguez said on OTL. ?And we need to keep it as amateur status. We already have a pro league, it?s the NFL. Let?s not make college a minor league. I just think we can do a few things, get a couple thousand more (dollars a year) to help out the players.?

NCAA spokeswoman Stacey Osburn said the NCAA would reserve comment until it has had time to read the amended complaint filed Thursday.

The judge is still mulling whether to turn the lawsuit into a class action, representing thousands of current and former athletes. Such a ruling would be a significant legal victory for the players, exposing the NCAA and its member schools to billions of dollars in damage. The plaintiffs now demand the NCAA find a way to give players a cut of the billions of dollars earned from live broadcasts and memorabilia sales, along with video games.

The move to add current student-athletes to the suit comes a day after the NCAA announced that it would no longer allow EA to use its name and logo in video games.

Hausfeld called the NCAA's decision to break ties with EA "petty and arrogant."

"It's admission of a practice that goes to the heart of the contention that the NCAA believes it is above the law," he said late Wednesday.

Osburn responded in a statement that the NCAA's business relationship with EA only pertained to the logo and name.

"Student-athletes were never a part of this relationship and plaintiffs' attorneys know it. Further, the $545,000 paid annually to the NCAA for the use of the logo and name goes right back to support student-athletes across all three divisions," she said.

Demi Moore Supports Daughter Rumer Willis - Ex Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis Wedding Plan?

Demi Moore shows support for daughter

Demi Moore donned a pair of shades and shielded her eyes from the camera flashes as she left her daughter Rumer Willis' live performance at 'The Lot Party L.A. in Hollywood.

The proud mom looked great as she stepped out in a black lace dress.

In an earlier report about Demi's ex husband Ashton Kutcher, it is rumored he is already planning a wedding with girlfriend Mila Kunis.

Moore's ex Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis' 'That 70s Show' co-star wants to be a bridesmaid at their wedding.

Laura Prepon ? who worked on the comedy show with the couple ? would love for them to get married so she and the whole cast, which also included Topher Grace, Wilmer Valderama and Danny Masterson, can attend.

She told the New York Daily News: ?Of course I will [be there]. Are you kidding? All of us are going to be right up there on the altar.?

Mila, 29 and 35-year-old Ashton have been staying in London while the actress shoots 'Jupiter Ascending' and have reportedly become so besotted with England they want to tie the knot there once Ashton's divorce from Demi Moore comes through.

A source said: "Mila and Ashton have fallen in love with the UK. They are desperate to get married as soon as possible because they want to start a family and are slightly old-fashioned about these things.

"Mila loves the idea of a stately home or something in the English countryside."

Despite considering lavish venues for the big day, the couple want the ceremony itself to be "low-key" with only a few select guests witnessing the nuptials.

The source added: "Although the venue may be spectacular, the wedding itself will be low-key. It's expected it will be just Ashton, Mila and a few family friends."

Although the couple are yet to announce their engagement, things have progressed between them recently, as Mila introduced Ashton to her parents, Elvira and Mark, when they came to visit her in the UK at the end of May.

Kanye West Audio Slamming Taylor Swift - Business Insider

Kanye West allegedly bashes Taylor Swift and Pink in audio after 2009 MTV VMA incident.

Just yesterday MTV announced the nominees for the 2013 Video Music Awards.

But Kanye West still hasn't forgotten about the 2009 award show, in which he ripped a moon man out of Taylor Swift's hands after the country singer won Best Female Video over Beyonc?.

After the infamous moment, West allegedly went to dinner with friends and a few other unnamed musicians?at the Corner Bistro in New York's West Village, where he bashed Swift and went on a few other tangents.

Turns out someone at the dinner was secretly recording West's alleged rants and?Gawker just posted the audio.

In what can be heard on the somewhat muffled tape, West says he?re-wrote his "Run This Town" in two days?and "because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyonc?! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyonc?."

He also gripes about Pink getting to perform two songs but he didn't get to perform "Heartless."

West goes on to state, "My mother died for this fame sh--! I moved to f-----' Hollywood chasing this sh--. My mother died because of this sh--. F--- MTV.

Here's the full crazy audio, as transcribed by Gawker. You can listen to the recording on their site here >

I'd rather just let the [inaudible] speak for itself. You know, it's like, I was happy to be in a situation where people couldn't say, oh, I was trying to promote my own song. For the times that I've, like, defended myself... [Tape break] I'm pushing the envelope! I wrote my f-----' 'Run This Town' verse for a f-----' month! When I heard Eminem's verse on the Drake shit, I went back and rewrote my shit for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I f-----' care! You know what I'm saying? And that's what I'm saying. Because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyonc?! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyonc?. As long as I'm alive! And if I'm alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I'm alive, you gon' have to deal with it. 'Cause there ain't gonna be no more motherfucking Elvises with no James Browns.

[A female voice asks, "Why are you so angry? What's the anger?"] Because my mother got arrested for the f-----' sit-ins. My mother died for this fame sh--! I moved to f-----' Hollywood chasing this sh--. My mother died because of this sh--. F--- MTV.

It ain't no love. What the f--- was Pink performing? Don't nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the f--- Pink perform two songs and I didn't even get asked to perform "Heartless." "Heartless" is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don't know that Pink song! But I noticed that she's pink! They put me in a f-----' room and [inaudible - maybe "projected it"].

[A male voice asks, "How the f--- did Eminem get the Best Hip-Hop song in 2008?"] Eminem won Best Video! Rap Video! Yo, when he wont that sh--, I was so happy. I was so happy I [unclear - "ran all this sh--," maybe]. I said, "Ni---, I'm gon' do this until y'all put a bullet in my head. I'm runnin' up to y'all, put a..." [tape cuts].

Meanwhile, looks like Swift hasn't forgotten about the 2009 incident either, tweeting after the nominations announcement yesterday:

Drop-Dead Gorgeous Gay Baseball Player On ?Drop Dead Diva?

Most of us are catching up on Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black, but there?s good television out there in basic cableland: On Sunday?s episode of Drop Dead Diva, ?Secret Lives,? Jane (Brooke Elliott) defends a closeted baseball player facing a murder rap.

And in a twist found only on TV, coming out could exonerate him of the crime. (See, it?s his girlfriend he?s accused of killing?duh, duh, DUH!)

Still the show has its heart in the right direction: ?The greatest accomplishment for me would be to get more people to talk about this issue,? producer Josh Berman told Cyd Zeigler of Outsports, a story consultant on the episode. ?I hope this episode shines a light on the fact that I think some of the fears of closeted athletes are unwarranted and steeped in past prejudices.?

Well, all right then.

Drop Dead Diva airs July 21 at 9pm on Lifetime

New London Startup Lab Makeshift Gives Birth To Its First MVP: HireMyFriend

tumblr_inline_mpzoz1m4Xc1qz4rgpMakeshift, a new "Startup Lab" in London's Eastern tech cluster, has now produced its first product, HireMyFriend. Unlike an accelerator which invests in small startups, Makeshift plans to launch its own products from internal resources. These are significant - they include a co-founder of Bebo and the former CTO of Aframe. The "labs" approach has been taken by other notables including Kevin Rose's former Milk Studios project, Monkey Inferno in SF, and, to some extent - Betaworks in New York. Labs also differ from the "Studio" model, which builds a team around an existing entrepreneur.
